Biker arrested after assaulting home guard

A traffic home guard was allegedly assaulted by a rogue biker when he was stopped for violating traffic rules in the central part of the city this afternoon, the police said.

Traffic home guard Radhanath Sikdar of the Sealdah traffic guard was allegedly assaulted by Prithavas Shaw in front Calcutta University when he was stopped for driving along College Street violating one way rule and without helmet, they said.

Following a brawl, the accused, a resident of Gobinda Sarkar Lane of Muchipara PS area, suddenly attacked Sikdar and twisted his right arm, resulting in its dislocation from shoulder, a senior officer of the Kolkata Police said.
 

Shaw was arrested, while Sikdar was undergoing treatment at the Medical College, he added.
