Billiards and snooker nationals start

The Manisha National Billiards and Snooker Championship started today with defending champion Ishpreet Chadha of Maharashtra making it to the quarterfinals after getting a bye here today.

The opening day of the event witnessed young boys rubbing shoulders against each other on the green baize in sub-junior billiards and snooker events.

Chadha was the first one to make it to the pre-quarters after getting a bye in the first round -- he had a walkover from Tridip Dekha of Assam in the second round.

Young Mandeep Singh hogged the limelight for the hosts as he outplayed Akshay Rehani of Delhi 114-91 to enter the pre-quarters.
 

Rohan Sahani from Madhya Pradesh had the biggest win in the second round as he defeated Harpreet Singh of Delhi 169-94 to book his place in the last 16.
