Bimal Gurung acquitted of three charges

Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) president Bimal Gurung was today acquitted in three cases in connection with blocking of National Highway-31A by GJM activists in 2011.

Gurung, who appeared before the court of Kalimpong SDJM was acquitted of three cases for which the police had filed chargesheet.

However, Gurung, who was also charged by the police for instigating people against it in Sipchu area of Kalimpong, which resulted in violence and led to the death of two persons, would have to reappear before the court on December 10 in connection with five other cases pending against him.

The cases also included torching of a government bungalow in Sipchu.
