West Bengal Left Front Chairman Biman Bose today demanded probe by the NIA into the October 2 blast in Burdwan district and reiterated that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee come out with a statement in this regard.
"We demand that NIA investigate the Burdwan blast incident. The NIA must investigate this type of incident when inter-state security and the country's security as a whole is concerned," Bose told reporters here.
"No state police has the right to probe such type of matter and I don't see any problem if the NIA investigates the Burdwan blast," he added.

Referring to the 2009 Vedic Village fire, when Banerjee, the then Railway Minister, had sought NIA investigation, Bose questioned why the chief minister was keeping silent now.
"She is not only the chief minister of West Bengal but also the home minister of the state... The chief minister has to speak to the media and explain what has happened in Burdwan," he said.
"If she can come out with statements on petty issues, then she must speak now," Bose said.
He alleged that the state police has been working under the "directive" of the ruling party TMC and questioned why the leaders of the party were "mum" on the issue.
"Not a single leader of TMC has said anything... This is peculiar," he alleged.
