Criticising Trinamool Congress MP Subhendu Adhikari for 'threatening' the State Election Commission, CPI(M) state secretary Biman Bose today said indecent words should not be used against a constitutional body in a democracy.

"I don't belong to the government so I really can't say anything except that in a democracy one should not use such indecent words," Bose told reporters.

Addressing a rally at Dantan in West Midnapore district, Adhikari had said, "Ants develop wings before they die. We know what medicines to apply as we have done this before in Nandigram and Jangalmahal."

He had also alleged that the SEC was trying to put a spike in holding of the polls which would not be allowed.

Adhikari's comments came after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Transport minister Madan Mitra, both alleged that the SEC was trying to scuttle the panchayat polls.
