The Animal Husbandry department of Telangana is carrying out surveillance of poultry farms in the wake of bird flu surfacing in the state last month, a senior official said today.
"We have sent some samples from Injapur village (near Hyderabad) and the result was negative. As per the standard operating procedures and guidelines of Government of India, the surveillance is on," D Venkateswarlu, Director of Animal Husbandry, told PTI here.
As per the procedures, the first round of sample collection from the villages within ten km radius of the place hit by bird flu has been completed, he said.

The process is to be carried out for three months, he said.
About 1.60 lakh birds have been culled by the authorities after the bird flu surfaced last month at a farm at Hayatnagar on the city outskirts.
