'Birdman' wins best picture honour at Producers Guild Awards

Michael Keaton's dark comedy 'Birdman' has bagged the trophy for the best picture at the Producer Guild of America Awards.

'Birdman' makers Alejandro G Inarritu, John Lesher, James W Skotchdopole won the Darryl F Zanuck honour for outstanding producer of theatrical motion picture.

The big win at the PGA has elevated the status of 'Birdman' as the front-runner for Oscars since the last seven PGA winners have gone on to bag the Best Picture trophy at the Academy Awards.

'Birdman' beat 'American Sniper', 'Boyhood', 'Foxcatcher', 'Gone Girl', 'Grand Budapest Hotel', 'The Imitation Game', 'Nightcrawler', 'The Theory of Everything' and 'Whiplash' to win the award.
 

The award for outstanding producer of animated theatrical motion pictures went to Dan Lin for Warner Bros film 'The LEGO Movie'.

TV series 'Fargo', based on the 1996 film of the same name, was awarded with the David L Wolper award for outstanding producer of long-form television.

The award for outstanding producer of documentary theatrical motion pictures went to 'Life Itself', produced by Magnolia Pictures.

Emmy-winning show 'Breaking Bad' bagged the Norman Felton Award for outstanding producer of episodic television, Drama.

'Orange Is The New Black' was honoured with the Danny Thomas Award for outstanding producer of episodic television, comedy.

COSMOS: A SpaceTime Odyssey bagged the award for outstanding producer of non-fiction television, while the trophy for outstanding producer of competition television went to 'The Voice'.

'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' bagged the trophy for outstanding producer of live entertainment & talk television.

Winner of the outstanding children's program award was 'Sesame Street'.
