Punjab Congress today celebrated the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at the party headquarters here today.
Floral tributes were paid at Gandhi's portrait at state Congress Bhawan by Pradesh Congress General Secretary Lakhwinder Kaur Garcha, former president district Congress committee Surinder Gupta Faridkot and Secretary PPCC Paramjit Singh Randhawa among others, a party spokesman said.
The party leaders recalled the services and sacrifice of Indira in the service of the nation and said Congress, and the Nehru-Gandhi family in particular, had made unparallelled sacrifices for safeguarding the unity and integrity of the nation.
They said besides Indira, her son Rajiv Gandhi also laid down his life for in service of the country.
