Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao launched the birth centenary celebrations of legendary vocalist Bharat Ratna M S Subbulakshmi here today.
Daughter of M S Subbulakshmi, Radha Viswanathan, 80, was felicitated by the Governor on the occasion.
President of the Shanmukhananda Fine Arts & Sangeetha Sabha Dr V Shankar announced setting up of the Sri Shanmukhananda Bharat Ratna Fellowship in Music to be given to 50 young and promising artistes from all over the country.
The fellowship of Rs 1 lakh per year will be given for three years to 50 young artistes.
A four-day Music festival has been organised at Shanmukhananda Hall as part of the celebrations.
