Bittu involved in conspiracy to kill religious leader: Police

Judicial Magistrate Ashish Thathai extended the police remand of Bittu, former president of Panch Pardhani and All India Sikh Student Federation.

Bittu was hatching a serious conspiracy to kill religious leader Ashutosh Maharaj of Noormahal, Public Prosecutor Monika Gupta submitted before the court while seeking extension of police remand of the militant, who was arrested on September 21.

His links with Kulbir Singh Barapind, SGPC member who was recently arrested on terror charges, were also to be ascertained, said the public prosecutor.

Police have also got the numbers of more than 20 bank accounts and need to probe whether were were being used to get financial aid from persons residing abroad.

 

Defence lawyer Jagmohan Singh Warraich refuted the allegations and claimed the police had concocted the story about the conspiracy to kill the religious personality to keep his client behind the bars.

Bittu was recently booked under various sections of Explosive Act and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
