Six persons including a local BJD leader have been arrested in connection with a clash in which two persons were killed last week here in Odisha, police said today.
BJD's Umerkote block president Devisingh Majhi was arrested on Thursday along with Somnath Bhotra, Bisham Bhotra, Diya Bhotra and Devnath Bhotra. Bholi Harijan of B S Padar village was arrested yesterday, police said.
The incident took place last week at Baunsabeda village of Benera gram panchayat under the jurisdiction of Umerkote police station.
Congress has alleged that the ruling party BJD was involved in the incident. Party leader and former Member of Parliament (MP) Pradeep Majhi and Dabugam MLA Bhujbal Majhi have demanded the resignation of state Minister for Commerce and Transport and BJD district president Ramesh Majhi and MP Balabhadra Majhi over the issue.
