president of ruling-BJD's youth wing Yosabant Parida was seriously injured after being shot at by a person at Kamakshyanagar in Odisha today, police said.
Parida got the gun shots on his belly and hand while sitting at his medicine store in the town when one Suresh Panda of Kujanga in Jagatsinghpur district allegedly opened fire at him, Superintendent of Police, Manoranjan Mohanty said.

As the incident occurred in the market area, local people chased Panda and handed him over to the police, Mohanty said adding a revolver was seized from Panda.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident had its genesis to old rivalry between the Parida and Panda.
Interrogation was on to ascertain the motive behind the incident, Mohanty said.
The attack assumed incident as it was the second such attack on a BJD leader in Odisha after the fatal attack on BJD leader Abhimanyua Sahu at Titlagarh in Bolangir district over a fortnight ago.
