Odisha Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik today suspended Vyasanagar Municipality chairperson Sabita Rout from the party for anti-party activities.
BJD's General Secretary and Mass Education minister Debi Prasad Mishra made the announcement in a satement.
Rout had earlier faced no-confidence motion brought by Congress councillors and an independent member of the Odisha Assembly.
However, the no-confidence motion was rejected since BJD councillors had abstained from voting on the issue and as a result she had retained the post.
