BJD worker held

A ruling BJD worker was

arrested in connection with poll violence at a place in Phiringia of Odisha's Kandhamal district.

Pareswar Mallick was arrested yesterday under under sections 341, 294, 313, 325, 506/34 IPC in connection with poll violence, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Phulbani, Pravat Panigrahi said.

According to complaint lodged with police - Mallick and his associates assaulted one Simanchal Mallick of Nuapadar at Jargipada village. They were campaiging for BJP's Phulbani assembly candidate Deba Narayan Pradhan.

Simanchal, who suffered head injury, was admitted to the Phiringia Primary Health Centre and later was shifted to District Headquarters hospital, Phulbani, Panigrahi said.
 

Two days back, some BJD workers allegedly had rushed to the camp office of BJP at Bandhagarh under Phiringia police station area and threatened the saffron party workers to close the office soon, police said.
