BJP, ABVP activists protest against student leader's murder

BJP and ABVP activists today blocked the National Highway 24 for over an hour, protesting against the alleged murder of a students' union leader of KGK Degree College here.

The activists, protesting against the murder of Deepak Chauhan who was shot dead on Thursday, also interrupted law examination at the college.

The college authorities today postponed the students' union election after the death of Deepak, who was a candidate in the ensuing polls.

A protest was held near Imperial Cinema on NH 24. After an assurance by senior administrative officials that justice would be done, the protest was withdrawn, BJP city president Ritesh Gupta said.
 

Principal of KGK Degree College Sanjay Kumar Pant said many ABVP activists entered forcefully into the college premises and obstructed the law exams.

On the instruction of Registrar of Rohilakhand University KN Pandey the two papers of LLB have been postponed, he said, and added that an FIR has been lodged at Majhola Police Station against unknown agitators.

Deepak was shot dead by some unidentified assailants in Ashyana Colony on Thursday, according to police sources.

"Police and Crime Branch Officials have been deputed to investigate the case. Soon we will crack it," SP City Mahender Singh Yadav said.
