BJP today accused Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Power Minister Harun Yusuf of "violating" the election code of conduct by trying to influence voters through an attached sheet carrying their photographs along with BSES power bills and sought the Election Commission's intervention in the matter.

City BJP Chief Vijay Goel said he has filed a compalint with the Delhi Election Comission against Dikshit and Yusuf seeking action against them for "misuse of official machinery".

"A large number of people have brought to our notice that they are receiving BSES bills for September and October with a propaganda sheet of Congress. The sheet carries photographs of Dikshit and Yusuf as well as write-ups about various inaugurations," Goel alleged.

Mentioning that Delhi government has a 49 per cent stake in the discoms, he accused it of attaching the sheet "intentionally" to "influence" the voters.

"It is clear that as Congress fears losing the power in Delhi, it is misusing official machinery in desperation. This should be stopped immediately and necessary action taken against the Chief Minister and the Power Minister," said Goel.

He alleged the "tactic used to influence" the voters has proved BJP's contention that government was hand-in-glove with the discoms.

"This is an evidence that the discoms and the Congress government are hand in glove. As BJP has promised that it will reduce the power tariff by 30 per cent, both the parties have joined hands," he alleged.

BJP has promised to cut tariff by 30 per cent if it is voted back to power in the December 4 assembly polls.
