With post-poll violence continuing unabated across Odisha after the Panchayat elections, the opposition BJP today staged a demonstration before the Odisha Assembly protesting police inaction.

A scuffle ensured between BJP activists and the police near the Assembly and BJP leaders later alleged that ruling BJD activists created violence and got police protection.

"What was the fault of Bulu Pradhan who was killed in Hinjli? Pradhan was killed as he did not turn up to vote for BJD. What was the fault of Salman in Tarabha? He was killed as he pasted a poster of the opposition party," alleged BJP leader Golak Mohapatra.

Former minister and BJP leader Samir De said the Chief Minister, who is in-charge of the Home department, remained silent to the murder of Bulu Pradhan, a BJP activist in Patnaik's home constituency in Hinjilikatu.

"From Hinjilikatu to Jatni, Khurda, Niali and other places, BJD has unleashed a reign of terror with the help of some police officers," Dey alleged.

Meanwhile, as many as 15 houses, five shops, one SUV, five auto-rickshaws and six motorbikes were damaged during a clash between BJD and BJP supporters at Jagannathpur village under Durgapur Panchayat in Begunia block in Khurda district.

One person was injured in the incident, the police said.

A report from Jajpur district said at least three persons were injured in a group clash at Jana village under Panikoili police limits following which Section 144 of CrPC was imposed there, the district administration said.
