BJP announces candidate for Legislative Council election

BJP today announced its candidate for biennial Legislative Council election of Uttar Pradesh.

The party has named president of Kashi region Laxman Acharya as its candidate for Council election, BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said.

Acharya is the former chairman of Fisheries Development Corporation and hails from Kashi area represented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Election is being held for 12 seats of the Council wherein 403 members of the Vidhan Sabha are the electors.

SP and BSP have already announced eight and three candidates respectively.

BJP with 41 members is in a position to ensure victory of one candidate.
