"Why is the government not announcing an inquiry... Inquiry has been done there (the US) and here the government is only making announcements about inquiry. The government should hold a judicial inquiry and it should come out with a report in 60 days," BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain told reporters here.
He was asked about the assurance given by the government in Lok Sabha on the issue.
"We have no hesitation in having an inquiry to get to the facts of the matter. We will announce further steps in the House today," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said in Parliament.
Hussain said the facts about Rs 125 crore having been spent on lobbying by Walmart to enter Indian markets have come out in an inquiry in the US.
"We have given proof that Walmart has spent money for lobbying in India. The government should announce a probe on the floor of the House. We want Parliament to function but the government should work and not just make promises," he said.
