The Uttar Pradesh unit of BJP today accused Samajwadi Party government of failing on the law and order front and asked it to step down after the killing of a BSP leader in Azamgarh district of the state.

"The murder of former MLA Sarvesh Singh Seepu speaks volumes on the state of law and order situation and this government has lost the moral right to remain in power and we demand it to step down," state BJP chief Laxmikant Bajpai said.

BJP would also seek the intervention of Governor B L Joshi on the issue, Bajpai said.

"As Sarvesh had left SP and joined BSP, his security was not restored leading to his murder," Bajpai said.

The BJP would send its fact finding committee to collect the details of the matter, he added.
