BJP today lashed out at the ruling Samjawadi party for attacking Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik, terming it an effort to divert the public attention from the government's failures.

"SP national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav is issuing political statements and attacking the Governor merely to divert people's attention from the failures of the Akhilesh Yadav government," BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said.

"When there are incidents leading to tension indicating poor law and order situation in atleast 10 districts of the state, is there no need to improve? Isn't Ram Gopal Yadav himself in favour of improving law and order of the state?," he asked.

He said that the ruling party needs to look into the behaviour of their leaders and workers that cause law and order problem in the state.

Escalating their ongoing tussle, SP had earlier today dubbed Governor Ram Naik as "an RSS worker", apparently miffed at his remarks over the law and order situation in the state, and wryly suggested he be made a Union Minister so that he can fulfil his "communal agenda".

"Naik is acting as if he was not the Governor but Home Minister of the country. He gives statement on law and order in Orai but is mum on Dadri incident. All the world knows, who is responsible for Dadri. It was a well planned conspiracy," SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav had said in a no-holds-barred attack on Naik.
