Press Trust of India Coimbatore
BJP Tamil Nadu unit today blamed the state governments for failing to take adequate precautionary measures, despite union agriculture ministry cautioning about the likely shortage of pulses like black gram.

The State governments had failed to take adequate measures, leading to hoarding of black gram and tur dal, creating an artificial shortage and skyrocketing prices, BJP State president, Tamilisai Soundararajan told reporters here.

Negligence from the State governments was the main reason for the artificial increase in the prices and also shortage of the pulses, she alleged.

The state governments, who are vested with the authority, should also take steps to prevent the entry of Chinese crackers in the market, she said.

Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had already warned the party workers against talking on beef, she said if some partymen talked about the issue, it should not be considered as the official voice of the party.

On Tamil Nadu politics, Tamilisai said that the situation warranted an imminent change in the Government.

The BJP leader also sought adequate security and protection to the State chief minister, Jayalalitha, who is at present staying in Kodanadu, which is near the places, where the movement of Maoists was reported.

When asked about the election to the South India Film Artistes Association, she expressed her pains for the reported fisticuffs.

Moreover, those involved in irregularities should not not win and senior artistes should see to it that there was no no division among the artistes, she said.

When pointed about the writers returning their awards, Tamilisai said that they have leanings towards ideology of some political parties and they should have lodged their protests by their articles and not not by returning the awards.
