BJP candidate of Noushera seat injured in attack

BJP candidate from Noushera seat, Ravinder Raina, was among five persons injured in a clash tonight between PDP and BJP workers in Rajaori district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The clash started after Raina's cavalcade came under attack allegedly by PDP workers, sources said, adding that three BJP members were injured in the incident.

Raina, who is also a Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) state president, came under attack while his cavalcade was passing through Lambari belt of Noushera, sources said.

Later, BJP men retaliated and in the ensuing clash two PDP men were injured.

Confirming the incident, SSP Rajouri Mohmmad Haseeb told PTI,"There was a clash between BJP and PDP workers in which three BJP men and 2 PDP members suffered injuries including that of BJP candidate Ravinder Raina."
 

Raina has been hospitalised, he said adding that police will take the legal action in this case.

Tension gripped the area following the incident and BJP workers held protest demonstration against the incident in Rajauri.

Meanwhile, in Billawar belt of Kathua district, workers of Congress allegedly attacked vehicle of BJP candidate from the constituency, Nirmal Singh.

Some men attacked Singh's vehicle with sticks and the BJP leader and his wife had a narrow escape, sources said.

BJP spokesman Arun Gupta condemned the incidents and demanded action against the culprits.
