The BJP today claimed that an anti-Congress wave is sweeping Meghalaya where Assembly election is due early next year.

People in the state are set to reject the Congress government in the polls, BJP national spokesperson Nalin Kohli said here.

"I see only one wave in Meghalaya and that is the Congress will not return to power," Kohli told reporters.

The tenure of the present Assembly ends on March 6.

The Congress is losing ground as its MLAs have decided either to leave the party or not to contest the election, Kohli claimed.

The senior BJP leader's remark comes in the wake of reports that several Congress legislators were either not contesting on party tickets or not keen on contesting at all.
