BJP today claimed to have achieved over 30 lakh members for the ongoing membership drive to enroll 40 lakh people in the party by April 30 in Odisha.

"The party has so far enrolled over 30 lakh members in the state during the ongoing membership drive," Pratap Sarangi, Co-Convener of the membership drive committee of BJP's Odisha unit, told reporters here.

The party, which had fixed a target of enrolling 40 lakh members before the deadline, is hopeful of inducting 10 lakh more members by April 30, he said at a gathering at the state party headquarters here.

Sarangi said party members were working hard and making sincere efforts across the state to highlight various developmental programmes and welfare schemes launched by the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre.

He said party workers were celebrating ten crore membership achieved by BJP across the country.

Many members were enrolled through mobile phones using a toll-free number given for the purpose, he said, adding the verification would be undertaken from May 1 and the process should be completed within two months.
