BJP today filed a complaint with the Election Commission here against TMC's candidate for Bongaon Lok Sabha seat Mamata Bala Thakur alleging that she provided wrong information in her affidavit and demanded cancellation of her nomination.

A BJP team led by its state president Rahul Sinha complained to state Chief Electoral Officer Sunil Gupta that Thakur has provided false information regarding her educational qualification.

"We have received a complaint from Rahul Sinha alleging that TMC candidate for Bongaon seat has provided false information in her affidavit with regard to her educational qualification," Gupta told PTI.

"We are examining the complaint. Appropriate steps will be taken if the allegation is found true," he said.

Thakur, however, rubbished the BJP's claim saying that the BJP "can go anywhere" with their allegation.

Sinha said Thakur has submitted documents in her affidavit alongwith her nomination papers saying that she had passed Class VIII from a school in Maharashtra but he alleged that the said school is upto Seventh standard.

"We filed an RTI application and found it is a primary school. They don't have till Class VIII," Sinha said.
