The state government has worked in "double shifts" and has accomplished what can be achieved in a year, senior minister O P Dhankar said today, as BJP government in Haryana completed six months in office.

State's Agriculture, Development and Panchayats Minister, Dhankar, who was speaking on the sidelines of his visit to grain markets at Beri and Jhajjar, said the BJP government has fulfilled "more promises" than it made in its election manifesto.

Notably, the BJP formed government in Haryana for the first time on its own in the state's history, after last year's assembly elections which were held in October, he said.

Chief Minister Khattar and his council of ministers had taken oath on October 26, 2014.

Dhankar today took a stock of arrangements made at Beri and Jhajjar grain markets for storage and lifting of food grains.

"The BJP government has fulfilled more promises than it made in its manifesto and has undertaken various other developmental works during these six months," he said in a release.

Referring to the achievements of the government, he said that several steps have been taken by the state government for the welfare of the people during six months of its rule.

"These include passing of the Gau Samwardhan-Gau Sanrakshan Act (cow protection law), introduction of new Sports Policy, providing compensation at a rate of Rs 12,000 per acre for damage caused to crops due to natural disasters and interest-free loan to the farmers, waiving off their electricity bills, ensuring water till tail end of canals, registration of Haryana Fresh Brand, organizing successful Agri Leadership Summit at Gurgaon etc," he said.

The Minister also disclosed that soon the state government would place weighing machines at entry points of all the grain markets in the state to remove any doubt among farmers and procurement agencies regarding weighing of the crops.

Regarding the weather prediction of rains in the next two days, the Agriculture Minister urged the farmers to store their produce safely "otherwise they have to take the trouble of drying their produce.
