In an oblique dig at the BJP, Congress has said the concept that obstructions prove that the Opposition is doing a good job is misplaced.

The remarks come close on the heels of the passage of the Food Security Bill and the Land Acquisition Bill which Congress sees as gamechangers ahead of the Lok Sabha polls due next year.

It also said that smooth Parliament sessions help pass legislations which in turn help speed up the development in the country.

The editorial of the latest issue of party mouthpiece 'Congress Sandesh' said that "an Opposition which has always believed that being obstructionist translates to being a good Opposition is a much misplaced concept".

The journal said the Monsoon session of Parliament was productive as many bills were cleared.

"If every session of Parliament could be so productive, the pace of progress in the country would substantially improve automatically because many welfare and much needed reforms could be introduced and work could begin on them," it said.

It said the Land Bill the Food Bill and the ones on street vendors' protection and pension fund were some of the important measures which were passed in the Monsoon session.
