Condemning as 'barbaric' the latest attack on Tamil Nadu fishermen allegedly by Sri Lankan Naval personnel, state BJP president Pon Radhakrishnan today said it showed the island government was not interested in resolving the long standing dispute over fishing rights in Palk Strait.
Referring to the attack on eight fishermen from Rameswaram in Indian territory off Dhanushkodi coast yesterday, he said the attack using wooden logs, pipes and stones was "barbaric and brutal".
"The attack only shows that the Sri Lankan Government is not interested in resolving the bilateral fishermen issue even as talks were on," he said in a statement here.
