BJP Spokesman Prof Virendra Gupta appealed to all the sections of society in the state to maintain peace and tranquility, and stick to the traditions of mutual brotherhood and tolerance.
They also criticised Abdullah for his series of tweets yesterday attacking BJP and its allies for the death of the trucker from South Kashmir.
"Person like Omar Abdullah, who is a leader of Opposition in the state legislature, should speak with responsibility and not try to grind political interests out of such like sensitive issues and should not indulge in the blame game," the spokespersons said.
The leaders said that Omar Abdullah and other leaders like him, who gave provocative communal statements on the sensitive issue, are "responsible" for the tragedy.
They, instead of appealing to the people for keeping restrain, are playing "divisive politics" at a time when there is a need of keeping restrain and respecting religious sentiments of each other, the spokespersons said.
Omar Abdullah should conduct introspection of his own actions and reactions of instigating religious and regional sentiments of the people for political mileage, they said.
