BJP and RSS today condoled the demise of former Supreme Court judge VR Krishna Iyer, describing him as a nationalist and "path-breaking" judge who took pro-people decisions.
BJP president Amit Shah said he was deeply saddened over his death and on behalf of his party expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the peace of his soul.
"He was a nationalist and was known for his straight-forward views. His is an irreparable loss to the nation," Shah said.

Iyer was one among them who appreciated RSS, its ideology and activities, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said.
RSS Sahasarakaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale expressed his condolences saying,"Great Soul, May the soul rest in peace".
Iyer passed away today at the age of 100 in a private hospital in Kochi, Kerala. He was suffering from some kidney related problems and was admitted in the hospital on November 24.
Expressing his condolences, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu also said he had personally known Justice Iyer.
"He was not only a very great jurist, but a great humanist too. He was the pride of Indian judiciary and was active till his last breath," he said while describing him as a "path-breaking" judge who took pro-people decisions in every walk of life.
"He expressed his views in a free and frank manner and emerged as a role model and also a conscious keeper for all in the judiciary," he said.
