Members of BJP and Congress today walked out of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, alleging government apathy towards backward classes in the state.

In the Question Hour, Congress member Anugrah Narain Singh sought to know whether schemes for providing marriage grant to girls and treatment of people belonging to backward classes still continues.

Backward Welfare Minister Ambika Chaudhary in his reply said the scheme was "not being run due to limited resources and it remained suspended during 2014-2015 as well".

Not satisfied with the minister's reply, Congress members staged a walkout from the House.

Later, BJP members also walked out of the House, accusing the government of not being serious towards the backward classes in the state.

The Minister, however, defended the government and said that BJP and Congress both were against reservation and shedding "crocodile tears to grab headlines".
