"Aiyar's remarks are most unfortunate and I condemn it. Terming MPs going into the Well as animals is condemnable," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.
He said it was unfortunate that Aiyar called MPs of parties supporting the government as "beasts" or "animals" for stalling proceedings in Parliament for the last five days.
"He is calling supporting party MPs beasts or animals. I think they (the MPs) will definitely take note of it," Javadekar said. "But country has taken note of the desperation of Aiyar..."
The BJP spokesperson also charged the Congress of doing "political drama" on the cash transfer scheme.
"It is not new. There is nothing new. There is no new subsidy. They want to play politics on this issue. It is already there in many states," he said.
He said if the Congress was replacing food subsidy, then it is a real threat. "If food and fertiliser subsidy is not being covered now, then there is nothing new. Many states have been doing this for many years. The issue is it is just a political slogan," he said.
Aiyar, a Rajya Sabha MP, during a television debate on logjam in Parliament on FDI, had reportedly made the controversial remarks.
