Opposing National Commission for Minorities' decision to award a Kandhamal-based Catholic priest, BJP today accused him of being involved in religious conversion.
"Despite an adverse report from Kandhamal district administration about Ajay Kumar Singh, the NCM has decided to present him with Minorities Rights Day Award. It will affect communal harmony and trigger tension," BJP's Odisha in-charge Chandan Mitra told reporters here.
Stating that the decision to honour Singh was opposed by tribals in the communally-sensitive Kandhamal district in Odisha, Mitra alleged that the priest was involved in illegal religious conversion and working against the interest of tribals.
