BJP today dared Congress to face the local body elections in Tamil Nadu without aligning with any other political party.

"We will capture several local bodies, including municipalities. Will the Congress party be able to say that? Are they ready to face the local body polls alone," BJP Tamil Nadu unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan asked.

Local body elections are expected to be held by October this year in Tamil Nadu.

BJP had tied up with fringe parties for the May 16 Assembly polls while Congress had forged an alliance with DMK.

Speaking to reporters at the venue of the party's protest here against Tamil Nadu Congress president E V K S Elangovan for allegedly using intemperate language against her, womenfolk and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she said he should "practice civility in politics and he should learn that from us."

She also hit out at him for the "unfounded" charges he had levelled against a Union Minister over seizure of Rs 570 crore by the Election Commission in the run up to the polls.

Elangovan was in the eye of a storm over issues like his comments about the meeting between Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year.
