The Goa BJP executive committee today denounced the "attempts of the Congress and vested interests" to "destabilise" the BJP-led coalition government at a time when the state is trying to cope with the scenario arising out of the closure of mining operations.

In a political resolution adopted at the executive committee meeting held here, the BJP said the Congress was not only "frustrated" but is "bereft" of issues to raise against the state government.

The Goa Forward Party, the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, and Independents are the constituents of the coalition government headed by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

"No attempt by the opposition Congress and other vested interests can destabilise or deviate the present government from its agenda of development," said the resolution.

The BJP also congratulated the state government for completing one year in the office.

The resolution said the state administration was working efficiently irrespective of the health condition of Parrikar, who is currently undergoing treatment in the USA.

"It is heartening to state that there is speedy recovery as regards the ailment of the chief minister. It is expected that he will shortly resume the duties and continue to lead the government and the state of Goa," reads the resolution.

The resolution also mentioned about the loss of livelihood of people in the state caused by a Supreme Court ruling which quashed 88 mining leases, and expressed the party's solidarity with them.
