The state BJP today demanded the arrest of culprits involved in the firing on a businessman in a major trading hub here, saying it is a dent on the city's image of being safe for traders.

"Police and other security agencies should put more efforts to nab the persons who injured the businessman and fled away," BJP state general secretary and former mayor Kavinder Gupta said.

The businessman, Vipan Gupta, was walking towards his car on Thursday night in Ware House area when some unidentified attackers fired at him and fled away after snatching his bag.

"Ware House is the hub of business activities of Jammu and it witnesses regular and massive movement of the traders with the cash day and night.

"The area should be treated as vulnerable and adequate security arrangements, including active watch on the movement of people through CCTV cameras and thorough checking at entry and exit points, should be put in place," Gupta said.
