BJP today demanded the arrest of BSP supremo and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati in connection with the alleged multi-crore National Rural Health Mission scam in the state during her tenure.

As a part of an "agreement", the UPA government has saved Mayawati in the NRHM scam by "misusing" the CBI, BJP's deputy in-charge of UP Satyendra Narain Kushwaha alleged.

While the then Family Welfare Minister Babu Singh Kushwaha was arrested in the matter, Mawayati was spared, he told reporters here.

The UPA government has made a deal with the BSP to take its support to remain in power, Satyendra said.

He slammed ruling Samajwadi Party in UP of adopting double standards by inducting Babu Singh's wife and brother into the party.

SP was opposed to Babu Singh but it had no problem in inducting his family members, Satyendra said.

The BJP leader accused UPA government and the Akhilesh Yadav government of resorting to a policy of minority appeasement.

Both SP and Congress are trying to woo the minorities by creating a phobia of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, he said.

Satyendra claimed that during his tour of Bundelkhand, he witnessed illegal mining at a number of places which were "patronised by SP leaders".
