Rajasthan BJP today demanded Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's resignation "on moral grounds" in view of rising crime against women in the state and said only Babulal Nagar putting his paper would not suffice.
"Resignation of Babulal Nagar would not help in checking the rise in crime against women...But we want Ashok Gehlot to resign on moral grounds," Rajya Sabha MP and BJP national secretary Bhupendra Yadav said and alleged in the past one year, the state has witnessed 14 per cent rise in crime against women and nine per cent rise in rape cases.
Yadav demanded, since the state government referred the alleged Bhanwari Devi murder case to CBI, Nagar's case should also be handed over to a competent judicial body.
Minister of state for Dairy and Khadi, 53-year-old Babulal Nagar, who was accused of allegedly raping a 35-year-old woman at his residence, resigned today blaming his political rivals for "framing" him.
