BJP today held a series of protest against Jammu and Kashmir government, demanding rehabilitation policy for VDCs who fought against terrorists in erstwhile Doda district.

The protests were held at Padder, Dacchan, Kishtwar, Doda, Bhaderwah, Thathri among other places.

BJP leaders alleged that the government has policy for rehabilitation of terrorists returning from across the border but it has no scheme for the brave members of VDCs who have given a tough fight to terrorists during all these years of militancy in erstwhile Doda district.

They said that the government has framed a policy under which the VDC members are being asked to deposit their rifles on the pretext of their being over aged or unfit for the job.

They alleged that hundreds of members have deposited their rifles. It was assured that the family members or other youth from their respective villages will be engaged in their place but unfortunately this has not been done so far.

BJP leaders sought regularisation of all VDCs on the pattern of Ladakh scouts or Territorial Army and demanded rehabilitation of all the members who have been made to sit idle after depositing their rifles.
