Delhi BJP today blamed Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for the "deteriorating" law and order situation and demanded her removal for "failing" to protect women and children in the national capital.

Accusing the Chief Minister of "doing nothing" even though the city has been witnessing brutal assaults on women, Delhi BJP Chief Vijay Goel said the party has sought appointment with President Pranab Mukherjee to apprise him of the situation.

"We will request the President to remove the Chief Minister. She has failed in every front. Dikshit has done nothing to improve the deteriorating law and order situation," he said releasing a "charge sheet" against her.

Goel said the Chief Minister has been "targeting" the Delhi Police to divert people's anger towards the force though it was the basic responsibility of the elected government to ensure safety and security of the citizens.

"The Chief Minister and Congress legislators always give the lame excuse of the Delhi Police being under the Home Ministry. But the Home Minister is from Congress party. If Dikshit wants, she can remove the police commissioner," he said.

The BJP leader also referred to Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde's remark that the city government never sent any proposal to bring the Delhi Police under purview of Delhi Government.

"The Home Minister recently exposed her when he categorically said that not even once Sheila Dikshit has asked for Delhi Police to be brought under the purview of the state government," he added.
