BJP in Kerala today demanded resignation of state Transport minister Thomas Chandy for alleged encroachment of wetland on the banks of the backwaters in Alappuzha district.

BJP State President Kummanom Rajasekharan asked chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan to remove Chandy, an NCP nominee in the LDF government, from the cabinet if he did not resign on his own.

Rajasekharan also alleged that Chandy had constructed a road to his resort with government fund.

Meanwhile, Chandy denied the allegations and said charges were deliberately fabricated by political rivals to tarnish his image.
