Protesting killing of the one-horn rhinoceros in Kaziranga National Park during the last few months, the BJP Assam unit staged a sit-in demonstration led by its top leaders in Guwahati today.

BJP national vice president and Guwahati MP Bijoya Chakravarty, state unit president Sarbananda Sonowal and other leaders along with their party members protested against the government's alleged failure to halt rhino killings in the Park.

Alleging the failure of the forest department and its minister was leading to the rise in killing of rhinos in Kaziranga, they demanded an enquiry for the killings since 2001 be given to the CBI.

Holding placards that read "Bangladeshis go back", the demonstrators claimed that the government's alleged failure to take strict action against illegal migrants living in and beside the World Heritage site were adding to the problem.

Former BJP state unit president Rajen Gohain and MLA Prasanta Phukan along with a large number of supporters participated in the demonstration.
