Accusing BJP of letting down the people of Uttarakhand who elected all five party candidates to the Lok Sabha in 2014, the Congress today said the Narendra Modi government had done nothing for the state in the two and a half years of its rule.

"BJP must explain to people what it did for Uttarakhand in the last two and a half years of its tenure except putting spokes in the wheels of its progress. Narendra Modi who mocked the Rs 7,500 crore amount sanctioned by the UPA for reconstruction work during Kedarnath disaster himself did nothing for the state when his own turn came. It brings to the fore the party's double standards," senior Congress leader Suryakant Dhasmana said at a 'Jansamvad' programme in Cantt area.

"People of the state want to know from BJP what they got in return for electing all its five nominees to the Lok Sabha in 2014, " the former PCC vice-president said.

Modi who made big promises to help the state get back on its feet after the Kadarnath calamity did nothing for the state when he came to power, he said.

Instead of giving more by way of assistance to the state, the Centre created hindrances in its development journey by cutting down funds sanctioned to the state under centrally sponsored schemes, Dhasmana said.
