Attacking BJP, Samajwadi Party today alleged that the saffron party is banking heavily on "communalism" to go to bypolls on one Lok Sabha and 11 Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, slated for September 13 next.

"The important responsibility to Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath to campaign for the coming bypolls...And... The controversial video on love jehad of the MP, being played around to incite communal passions,... Have proved one thing ..., the organisation is active in disturbing communal amity," SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said in a statement.

"All this is to gain political mileage before the coming bypolls," Chaudhary said.

The graph of BJP in the state has dipped and the Modi government too has nothing to claim in its 100 days in office, he said, adding that, under these circumstances, "the party is trying to make gains through communalism".

He, however, said the SP government is committed to peace, brotherhood and amity in the society and would take strongest actions against those trying to disturb it.
