BJP's Dakshina Kannada unit would continue its fight against Yettinahole river diversion project which would not bebeneficial to anyone and drain the state exchequer of Rs13,000 crore, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, said today.
Varying opinions had been raised on the issue by BJP leaders, with Union Law Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and senior leader C T Ravi coming out in support of the project.
Gowda was instrumental in initiating the project during histenure as Chief Minister of the state.

Addressing a function to felicitate the newly elected BJP local body members, Kateel, who represents Dakshina Kannadaconstituency, said the project would not ensure 24 tmc ft of water to be diverted to parched areas of Kolar, Chickballapur, Tumakuru and Bengaluru.
Despite the opposition, the Congress-led state government has decided to go ahead with the project to lift rain water from Yettinahole, a stream near Sakleshipurjoining the Nethravati river.
Kateel said people from the parched regions had also come to realise that the project would not meet theirneed for water.
A decision on the next mode of agitation would be taken after the south zone Green Tribunal, hearing apetition questioning the execution of the project, gave itsorder, he added.
