"It is a personal decision of Jha to leave BJP to join JD(U)," BJP national spokesperson Ravishankar Prasad told reporters here.
Stating that the former BJP MLC has had good ties with the JD(U) and the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, he said that he would expect Jha to play his usual role in fostering ties between the two NDA allies.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar too had expressed similar views on Jha's decision to join JD(U) and said that the latter had informed BJP leaders in advance about his decision.
It was Jha's wish to join the JD(U) and the party had taken him into its-fold, Kumar said.
A section of the state unit BJP leadership has, however, expressed dismay at Jha's desertion of the BJP to join JD(U) and a party leader Mrityunjaya Jha described former MLC as an 'opportunist'.
Jha had yesterday joined the JD(U).
