The BJP today expressed dismay on the non-implementation of some components of the Agenda of Alliance (AoA) that was agreed between it and PDP before they formed government in Jammu and Kashmir.

"The Agenda of Alliance had agreed upon to take measures for sustenance and livelihood of the West Pakistan refugees which has not been fulfilled.

The BJP is dismayed on the non-implementation of some of the components of the Agenda of Alliance," BJP state spokesman, Virender Gupta said.

Keeping in view the provision of the Agenda, the Centre should ask the state government to issue caste certificates to the refugees from West Pakistan so that they can avail the benefits of reservations for government jobs and other welfare schemes, he said.

The direction to absorb the West Pakistan Refugees in central armed forces was issued in 2002 but was not implemented, Gupta said.

He expressed anguish that the authorities concern have not acted upon the agreement reached between the alliance partner PDP and BJP to grant admission to the children of West Pakistani Refugees in technical education institutes and Kendriya Vidyalayas even though the directive for the same were issued by the Home Ministry.

Uprooted in 1947, the West Pakistan Refugees landed in Jammu and Kashmir with a hope of leading an honourable and dignified life but failed to get citizenship rights in the state which is an integral part of India, he said.
