Puthiya Tamizhagam (PT) today accused BJP of going back on its promise to remove toll plazas across the country in a phased manner, which, it said, has led to the nationwide lorry strike, affecting the common man for the last five days.

The Centre should immediately intervene and find a permanent solution to the issue, PT president and MLA, Dr K Krishnasamy told reporters here.

On plantation workers in Munnar in Kerala demanding Rs.500 as daily wage, he said Tamil Nadu government should also order to pay the same amount to workers in plantations in Valparai, Mudis, Coonoor, Kothagiri, Mancholai, High Wavis, Yercaud and also in Kanyakumari, where rubber was cultivated.

The party has decided to take out processions across the state, beginning on November seven in Tirunelveli and ending December 2 in Namakkal, demanding that six sub-sects be brought under one name Devendra Kula Velalar, Krishnasamy said.
