Jammu and Kashmir Congress Chief G A Mir Thursday alleged that the BJP failed to handle the situation during its "unholy" coalition with the PDP in the state.

Hitting out at the BJP and the PDP, he claimed that the two entered into an "opportunist" alliance for the sake of power and compromised the core issues.

"The worst ever misgovernance and misrule of the PDP-BJP left the people of the state in lurch and the overall situation deteriorated in the Kashmir Valley," Mir alleged.

"The BJP has failed to handle the situation in Jammu and Kashmir during its unholy coalition with the PDP in the state," he alleged.

The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief said they remained engaged in a tug of war during the whole period, which caused great harm to the secular and social fabric of the state and created "disunity and disharmony" in society.

He said the Congress has always strengthened democracy in the country.

Mir claimed that the Congress is the only secular and unifying force in the country. He said the party will defeat the designs of communal and divisive forces.
